HOW TO BE A WORLD CLASS DEFENDER

Soccer

Soccer is an exciting sport where it is able to attract, not only the adults, but also the kids to watch every of its match. This is the fact since if we ask some random people about soccer, they must know, at least, one thing about soccer either it is Lionel Messi or Manchester United.  Therefore, it has made soccer to be a very lucrative business. The wage for a professional footballer who play in famous leagues is just too damn high nowadays. It even beats the amount of politicians or even businessmen at some points which is because of everyone just love how soccer is played.

Defender

Soccer itself consists of many positions where each position has its own role. For example, striker is often placed in the front to be the goal machine for the team whereas the midfielder is often placed in the center of the team as a quick transition from defending to attacking and vice versa. Another role that for some people are not very important is defender which is a role to defend the team from goals. This role becomes very essential in the team especially when the team is facing a much stronger team where all the team has to do is to defend. In here, we are going to give you a step by step guide to be a world class defender such as Maldini, Thuram, Ramos, and many others. A bit of an imaginary “how to” guide but let’s make it possible.

Stamina

First things first, a good stamina is the key to become a world class defender. This is a fact since defender needs to, sometimes, defend the team simultaneously from other team’s offensive attacks where defender also needs to help the team to deliver a counter attack sometimes. Therefore, if a defender is easily running out of stamina then other team’s strikers will be easier to deliver goals.

Intelligence

Second thing to become a world class defender is intelligence. Clever defenders are defenders that make strikers tend to be frustrated all time in the match. Sometimes, defenders don’t need both speed and stamina where they are able to tackle down strikers easily. A good example would be Paolo Maldini where he didn’t need to spend too much energy in defending his team whereas his ability to read the game was the key.

Speed

Third thing to become a world class defender is speed. Now this becomes the least thing to be done by defenders. However, as the time goes by, the role of defenders is not only for defending anymore where they are also being pushed to help the team in attacking. Hence, speed becomes essential in order o build a fast counter attack from the defenders. Defenders also able to expose the right and left side easier since they are tend not to be marked by other opponent players especially the left back defender and the right back defender. Roberto Carlos and Dani Alves are a good example for this matter.
